“Shriya is taking on new challenges, and demonstrating her ability to become an active, independent leader. She is showing a level of confidence in herself that I have not seen in the past.” – Ms. Scarmalis on recognizing Shriya’s efforts

Soni takes a lot of pride in her school and especially appreciates how the school offers freshman focus as well as study hall to help out students by giving them extra time to study or to catch up on classwork. She says it is very thoughtful since some students have all honors classes, as well as after school sports.

When I asked Soni about her most embarrassing moments she said, “I get so embarrassed when I don’t know the answer to a question…and I don’t have my hand up..but the teacher still calls on me! So embarrassing!” Don’t worry Miss Soni, we’ve all been there!

Soni had some very good advice on how to deal with gossip. She says she avoids participating in gossip by either ignoring it or in some serious harmful cases, confronting a teacher.  “I just really try my best or ignore it.”

Soni is specifically set on becoming a member of FBLA. FBLA stands for Future Business Leaders of America and it is the largest career student organization in the world. Their mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs. If you are interested in joining you should take up Mr. Brian Roberson to get more info.

Soni was inspired by her older sister to join FBLA. She says, “this is my first year doing FBLA and I want to do it because my sister did it and she told me it helps to make you a better thinker and will help improve my grades.”

Lastly, Soni shared her advice involving school PRIDE. Her thoughts were to put more effort into your school day. Show up to class early, sit in the front, do as much homework as you can at school, write down all your homework, make flashcards and stay organized and headstrong.

As you can see, Shriya Soni definitely earned her title as Student of The Month!
