The LCHS tennis team attended the tennis tournament held in Americus on Saturday, March 18, 2017. A total of 10 matches were won over all. Lee County first played Americus and then played Miller.
In the Americas Vs. Lee matches, three matches were won by the girls and four were won by the boys. Freshman Emily McClure was the only singles girl to win her match, and with a fantastic score of 2-6, 6-2, and 10-3. Both of the girls doubles teams won their tennis matches. Heena Patel and ZiZi Ohame finished with 6-4, 4-6, and 10-8. Second doubles, Lexi Purvis and Kelsey score was 6-3, 6-2. Boys singles against Americus were won by Nick Barlow and Jon Snyds. Nick won his match as third singles with a score of 7-5, 6-2. Jon, second singles, won with a tie breaker; 6-4, 6-8, and 10-5. Both doubles boys also won their matches. Jon and Milan’s final score was 2-6, 6-4, and 10-8. Jared Lee and Jimmy Creamer won in two sets with a score 6-3 and 6-3.
Against Miller, Lee’s boys third singles and first doubles won. Sadly, none of Lee’s girls won against Miller. Nick, third singles, played hard and finished with the score 6-6, 8-6, 6-6, and 7-5. Congratulation Nick Barlow for winning both of your matches. Lee’s boys first doubles team, Milan and Jon, won 6-4, 6-0. Great job Lee for winning ten matches at the tournament and good luck at regions in early April.
