The weather is getting warmer, flowers are blooming, Spring Break is getting closer… That’s right ladies and gentlemen, spring has sprung.
The change of season automatically means a change of wardrobe. Now is the time to brighten your clothes and start wearing those Easter pastels.
Pantone, a cooperation dedicated to color, has released the 2016 Spring Color Palette. This color palette shows much more promise than the 2015 Fall Color Palette.
*Disclaimer: Before I begin my review, I would like to point out that I am not a fashion expert. I wear primarily three colors: Black, Gray, and White. However, I have enough fashion common sense to distinguish a cute trend from a hot mess.*
The color palette is as followed: Rose Quartz, Peach Echo, Serenity, Snorkel Blue, Buttercup, Limpet Shell, Lilac Gray, Fiesta, Iced Coffee, and Green Flash.
Rose Quartz is a dusty light pink color. The color can also be described as a creamy pastel. I absolutely love this color. It is very wearable, and can be worn with deep purples, white, creamy nude tones, bright or soft blues, or my personal favorite: black (which can be worn with anything).
Peach Echo is a brighter color, a transition color into summer. The color can be described as almost a coral. It has been featured on many fashion runways and red carpet appearances. The lovely color has also been a color scheme for weddings. Peach Echo is a great spring shade.
Serenity is a soft gray blue, suitable for the cloudier days of spring. It could serve as a transition color from winter to spring. The color would go well with Rose Quartz.Thumbs up from me.
Snorkel Blue is another blue that would go with Rose Quartz. The color is a deeper cobalt, a bright blue. Snorkel Blue has been featured on the runway and down the aisle as a bridesmaid dress color. Personally, I own a skirt in this color that I will definitely wear this season.
What is a spring color palette without a bold yellow? Buttercup can only be described as a bright lemon color. It is the kind of color you want a statement accessory to be. Sure, it could be worn fashionably, but in moderation. You do not want to blind anybody.
Limpet Shell: Yet another blue! Limpet Shell is a light turquoise. It is bright and fun, perfect for spring.
The next on the list is Lilac Gray, one of my personal favorites. (I am biased though, being a minimalist.) Lilac Gray is a light gray with a subtle tint of purple. It is a neutral shade that fits many environments. I own way too much gray.
Fiesta is a color that I do not completely understand how it made the color palette. It is as the name suggests, a party of radical orange-red. It is more of a summer color, but I do not hate it.
In my opinion, Iced Coffee is a fall color. However, Kim Kardashian wore it, therefore it is a trend. (Again, I do not hate it.)
Green Flash is the epitome of spring. It is the color of fresh grass, a spring green. A+ for Green Flash (and not just because Flash is in the title).
In final analysis, Pantone’s 2016 Spring Color Palette is quite pretty. All of the colors are wedding worthy and can be mixed and matched. Spring has sprung and it is time to brighten your wardrobe.
