Boys Varsity Soccer had dropped three in a row coming into their game against the Walker School, but showing true grit, they played Walker to a scoreless tie. This game showed the perseverance and determination that has come to define Lee County Soccer in the past few years. To put up a fight like this, especially against a school that was ranked 4th among 1A and private schools in Georgia, and to do it coming off a string of losses is indicative of the fight that Lee County has.
The first loss that Lee incurred was against Colquitt on the 8th. The Trojans overcame an early deficit with a goal from Colton Edmunds coming off a beautiful cross from Kenny Olaniyan; it was a play that the team had practiced all year and it paid off. Sadly, the team could not overcome 2 goals from Colquitt and walked off with a 3-1 loss at home.
The second loss came on their first day at Jekyll Island, the 10th. They played Union Grove High School to a 4-1 loss with Lee’s lone goal coming from Daryl Diez-Rodriguez off of a cross.
The final loss was a 5-2 game against Clarke Central on the 11th. Early goals have cost Lee all season and they did once again as they let in 2 before they got one of their own, scored by Dylan Morerro. Another two goals came in before Lee got its last goal of the game and the tournament. Clarke Central got in one more goal before the final whistle sounded, and the Trojans walked away from the game disappointed but eager to play their next opponent, the Walker School. They tied this game 0-0 and are looking to beat Valdosta High School on the 15th at their field.
