Tubbs, one of the rare cats characterized by being very large and draining all of the food bowls upon arrival, and other assorted kittens were drawn in the art style of the game. All of the wonderfully cute cats were drawn exactly like their digital counterpart, expressing the simple but appealing art style of the game. http://geekendgladiators.com/2015/11/26/the-english-names-of-the-neko-atsume-cats/

Neko Atsume: Kitty Collector is a mobile flash game published on both Google Play and Apple Store by Hit-Point Co. based around what is conveyed in both english and japanese: cat collecting.

Neko Atsume: Kitty Collector, commonly referred to as just Neko Atsume, emphasizes, based on its mechanics, a sort of casual play. Unlike other mobile games, say Candy Crush made by the mobile game Tyrant King, it uses its wait time mechanic as less of a punishment for failure, but projects waiting and patience in a positive way. It does this by showing, after placing food out, if you wait, you will soon be swarmed by small, cute mammals with a desire to do nothing more than have fun and look cute. No matter the scenario, there is no punishment for placing different food, or changing objects, or saving up funds for more expensive equipment. No matter, as long as a sort of food is out, you can guarantee kittens to swarm your virtual front porch.

Another positive aspect presented in the mechanics of Neko Atsume is the sort of upgrade system it recommends. In most mobile games, to get anywhere, and sometimes quite literally, it requires you to wield a credit card as your path forward. In Neko Atsume, though an option, the spending of funds is not near required as in other games on the same platform. Even the high costing extensions and themes available on the market could easily be gained by saving for two days of casual play, requiring only for you to check every few hours or so, replace the food, and close the app. As previously mentioned, one can purchase the “rare” currency, being the goldfish, as to support the creators and designers, but it is not required at all.

The final, most appealing aspect of Neko Atsume, in general opinion, is the cutesy art. Every design, for the cats and even the objects, are included with bold lines, great colors, and a sense of innocence and cuteness about them that implies a great deal of detail and thought into how to make the designs both appealing and functional. In my personal opinion, as is with others, they succeeded. The conjoined aspect of different poses with certain items and the inclusion of the great designs of the rare cats, as a simple, but elegant contribution to the cutesy aspect of a game based around collecting cats and items.

Overall, as a mobile game, based for casual use, Neko Atsume is time well wasted as you procrastinate on the important things in your life, and take a quick glance at another universe, in which cats run wild and play, in the cuteness, right on your doorstep.
