The Christmas spirit was in the air on December 8. The LCHS band hosted the annual Christmas concert in the Clay Auditorium.
Although the audience sang along and applauded, the head band director, Mr. Hank Carter wasn’t pleased with the actions of the crowd.
The day after the concert, Carter posted on his social media about how the three bands “performed well and demonstrated that we should be in good shape as we start looking forward to LGPE.” However, he also posted, “it’s a shame, though, that our audience cannot just sit, be still, listen and enjoy.”
The band invited the superintendent, Dr.Miller, to conduct “Sleigh Bells” and it was quite a hoot.
Darren Clanton, freshman and First Chair trumpet player in the Symphonic Band, had a solo during “The Thirteen Days of Christmas.” When asked about his performance, Clanton said, “I was nervous, but once my solo began, I zoned out the crowd.”
Fellow freshman, Kevin Kendrick also had a solo during “The Thirteen Days of Christmas.” When asked how he felt about his performance on the timpani, Kendrick said, “I was nervous, but as soon as I started playing, I could tell Mr. Carter’s facial expression was saying ‘good job.’”
Keep up the good work LCHS band!
