Lee County Christmas Parade

Written by Abby Wilson

On Saturday, December 5th, NJROTC and many other organizations and companies in the city of Leesburg all came together and went through the parade. For most people, they had floats and that made it easier for them, just to sit on the float for the almost 2 mile route. But for others including the Pink Slipper and NJROTC, we did not have a float, we had to walk (or for NJROTC, we had to march.)

We had the Color Guard, which consisted of the 2 girls holding the banner; Erica Braswell (Freshman) and Madelyn Burns (Freshman)  and the people doing the official Color Guard; Tyler Farrell (Senior), Bailey Harrell (Junior), Lyle Smith (Senior), and Abby Wilson (Freshman). We then had the rest of the people there split into two groups, one with jackets and one without.

The actual parade as a whole went wonderfully, except for the fact that one of the Broadway Bound girls fell off of the float and she hurt her leg. They said she looked okay, that it wasn’t so bad.

So all-in-all, the parade went very well, except for the freezing cold weather and the one girl getting hurt. I can’t hardly wait until next year!
