10 Things To do in The Month of October

Written by: Lindsey Ethridge

It’s fall y’all! Since we are now well into October, I took this as an opportunity to share with you, the top 10 things to do in the month of October.

  • Pumpkin Carving

This one may be the most obvious, but it still needs to be mentioned. Carving a pumpkin can serve as great seasonal decorations, or it can be used as a type of therapy to get out all your anger by stabbing something, but whatever floats your boat.

  1. Hayrides

This is a great activity because you can do it with all of your friends and family! This can also be a great activity for a Halloween/Fall themed party. You could even go on a haunted hayride or make one of your own.

  1. Bonfires

Since the weather is cooling down a little, it is the perfect time for nightly bonfires. This also can be a great time to eat as many jumbo marshmallows as possible, (because they shrink when you roast them).  You’ll have the best time sitting with your friends and/ or family while sitting around a fire.

  1.      Haunted Houses

If you are into all things creepy and scary, this one is for you. It is getting closer and closer to Halloween each day. This means that there is an abundance of haunted houses for your scaring needs. Although I would recommend going with friends so you can have a bit of fun and have someone go inside before you.

  1.      Find the perfect Halloween costume

Whether it’s for a costume party or trick or treating, your costume is the most important part. It is necessary to have a killer costume that really wows people. It doesn’t matter if you’re in a group, duo, or you’re flying solo, your costume needs to be amazing. First you just have to decide if you want to be cute or creepy.

  1.      Tacky Halloween decorations

Decorations are a huge necessity to get in the October spirit. It is also necessary to have the tackiest Halloween decorations in your neighborhood. This lets your neighbors know that you love Halloween and it also tells them that you aren’t afraid to show it. Your decorations should reflect your true feelings of Halloween.

  1.      Stock up on candy corn

Since it is once again fall, that means candy corn is back! This is the one time a year when you can go to any store and find this Halloween staple. I suggest buying as much of it as you can to hold yourself over until the next seasonal candy arrives.

  1.       Stock up on all pumpkin flavored treats

Pumpkin bread, pumpkin Oreos, pumpkin donuts, pumpkin spice latte, these are only a few of the pumpkin flavored foods that are in stores right now. This seasonal flavor is practically in every food imaginable! If you’re in love with pumpkin this is the time for you.

  1.       Trick or treating

If you think that there is no age limit for trick or treating then read on. As humans, we have the right to go out on October 31st, dressed in a costume, to receive free candy from different strangers. Whether you’re 5 or 15, you should go trick or treating.

  1.      Enjoy the season

October will come and go, and before we know it, it’ll be Christmas. Right now is the best time to enjoy the last few weeks to go outside without completely freezing. Just enjoy October and the fall season before it’s gone.
